PREP gives parents the tools to speak up for their children at school. We offer workshops, state-by-state legal guides, webinars, and one-on-one support so families understand their rights in K-12 education.
On this site you can look up education laws for your state, watch video tutorials on topics like special education and school discipline, and sign up for live webinars to practice advocacy skills. Parents can also request an appointment with a trained volunteer attorney or education expert when they have questions about their child’s schooling. PREP materials are available in English and Spanish, and our resource library covers parent guides, a glossary of education terms, and issue briefs on common challenges families face. Parents with children who receive special education services can read our guide on preparing for IEP meetings. Our workshops run in communities across the country, with a focus on low-income and minority families who want a stronger voice in their children’s schools. If you are new to parent advocacy or need help with a specific concern, start with Get PREPped or browse Resources to find what fits your situation.
